Yes it’s heavily influenced by Hitchcock, but I think De Palma is a great torchbearer for the great man & I don’t really see anything wrong with that, especially if you do it this well.
Sisters itself is a very intriguing film with a great central mystery & one that I was really caught up in, even if it stumbles towards the end. De Palma’s direction is great throughout though & I won’t forget how well done that murder sequence was, definitely my favourite scene.
While not as emotionally resonant as I was excepting, Soul is still up there with the best of Pixar. It’s 90 mins of a beautifully animated, heartfelt adventure, which tackles some really interesting themes of life & a persons meaning in the world. The animation is honestly some of the best I’ve ever seen, the duo of Matt Aspbury & Ian Megibben do an incredible job with some of the shots they pull off.
I don’t know if it’s my favourite animated…
