The Talk of the Town ★★★★

“What is the law? It's a gun pointed at somebody's head. All depends upon which end of the gun you stand, whether the law is just or not.”

It would be a dream to be stuck in the middle between Cary Grant and Ronald Coleman 🥰 But seriously Jean Arthur is absolutely delightful!! I can’t help but smile when I see her bubbly self light up the screen. She shines and holds her own throughout, even while sharing the screen with two arrestingly charming men. Cary and Ronald play off each other masterfully with their vastly different character types, with Cary as a rebel and Ronald as an intellectual. On the romantic aspect, I definitely saw the sparks between Cary and Ronald in the film, and it felt like the story was gradually evolving into a romance between them 🤣 I really think that the actual romance involving Jean Arthur should have been focused on more, because I found the ending rather abrupt. But overall it is definitely an enchanting film with so many great lines, one of which I am in love with: “I'm here now only by the grace of being in his pajamas.”
