Lucca Nardoni’s review published on Letterboxd:
"The Stalker needs to find people who believe in something in a world that no longer believes in anything- The film is about the existence of God in man, and about the death of spirituality as a result of our possessing false knowledge."
As my very first Tarkovsky movie, I didn't know what to expect, I watched Stalker without knowing anything about it- and it was one of the bests experiences in my life, I was really touched by it. With his slow pace and long shots, the movie made me think I was there with those characters, that my thoughts and acts were the same. With this being said it had a huge impact on me, made me think about religion and faith and the way that the mind works. I've never seen desire be shown in such a brilliant way ever in my life. This movie is truly gorgeous and hard to describe.
I think that's really difficult to make a review of this movie because everyone has a different perspective on it, and that and other many reasons that make this film perfect.
This review might not be the best thing in the world, but I tried to explain somehow the way that this movie had a huge effect on me and the way I felt through it. And I'm more than grateful to have been able to watch it.
Thanks, Andrei for this work of art.
