I hate to admit this, but I had never fully seen Dr. Strangelove. It's something I had seen bits and pieces of many times throughout the years, so I always figured I had technically kind of seen it when adding up all these pieced together viewings.
Upon my wife finding this out, and this being one of her favorite films...an immediate viewing was ordered and my compliance was non-negotiable.
I'm so glad I finally sat down and watched this whole thing proper. Fucking masterpiece. Relevant, cutting, dark, hilarious, fascinating. I can't begin to explain just how great this film is. This is officially the most I've laughed at any film from this time period. It manages to be laugh out loud funny while not losing the bite of its social commentary.
Still trying to process where this stands on my list of Kubrick films. I'm a gigantic fan of Clockwork Orange and 2001...but this might be right up there with them. Not as epic in scope as those two, but way more fun.
