Machete Zombie II’s review published on Letterboxd:
Loved the look and feel of this. The gadgetry for the sci-fi portions are excellent. Much more sterile than his father's organic machinery, but not in a bad way. Brandon delivers a detached feeling, people trapped in their existence, pushed to a breaking point and unable to turn away from the violent ends.
The slow pace helped I think. I liked the world it built, the time at the work places, the swanky apartments that are far too clean to feel really lived in, and everyone vaping. I almost want to say this closer to a noir than horror.
The ending is deeply tragic in a way I won't go into without spoilers. Ultimately, your soulless job will kill you, the ones you loved, but not your boss.
