MV Skywalker’s review published on Letterboxd:
Wow. The noise is very real. Sound of Metal effectively hurdles you into a complex vacuum that challenges your very livelihood. The things that we all take for granted.
Riz Ahmed seriously made up for being part of Venom by laying it all down on the line in his portrayal of a heavy metal drummer that has to come to grips with his premature deafness. All the way through he was phenomenal. The sound design is his greatest accompanying costar, because of its varying assortments in distortion I was scared into a greater sense of understanding on how this life changing moment affected his character of Ruben. Very much it’s own character.
This movie is a very sad story yet a strong moral uplifter. By the end you are left still in silence.
