my idea of continuous education
I guess I appreciate Eternals more because I’ve watched some of Chloe Zhao’s films and she has a way with fleshing out characters. Aside from the signature look of her films, Chloe Zhao is also so good with making her characters be one with the environment and all of these, you can see in Eternals. This is also, I think, what is lacking with some of Marvel films which is the sense of trying new or being unique and I…
My first Lav Diaz slow film. I have to watch this in four parts. But everytime, even if it's slow cinema, I’m so engrossed with every scene because of an almost perfect recreation of what you might feel when you are in that environment. Cinematography is also great and black and white just works so well.
This film, above all, in a creative way tells the story of the Philippines through the metaphor of a small barrio with its unfortunates, its enemies and traitors and its silent heroes.
"duwag ako kaibigan, takot ako sa hindi ko alam"
Another childhood gem right here. I remember watching this in a neighbor’s house with a lot of kids from the neighborhood lol.
Rewatching this surely gives me nostalgia. I realize how this has a lot of heart. Even though it’s also obvious how this is from the 2000s with its CGI, editing and romantic bits. Even if that’s the case, the story never got lost and there’s a lot of exciting moments from classic characters.
I felt like if you want to recommend someone a sample superhero movie, this is what you can think of.
