absurdist heart warming stories are my weakness

Black Christmas 1974
god this is such a nihilistic film, i love it
my only complaint is that I wish they'd tighten up the plot just a little. this feels wayyy longer than 90ish mins but otherwise eerie af and will continue to watching it around the holidays

Harold and Maude 1971
exactly what i needed to watch after having a pretty awful year
for something that's over 50 years old, this story is radical in ways i did not expect. it has so much heart for having very dark humor
its completely relevant to today's time which im not sure is good or bad? relatable?
sometimes we need a maude to remind us of all the great things about life and to appreciate them, as well as to remind us how quick it can all disappear

Possessor 2020
hyper violent scfi thriller with a very cool art direction, dizzying editing and stunning cinematography
the cast was super solid as well and enjoyed the story for the most part, a little hard to follow at times but I did like that the director trusts his audience to be able to figure out what was going on
def gonna need a re-watch of this one
forgot to mention the freaky practical and visual effects in this were gnarly

The Haunting of Bly Manor 2020
it does start out slow but kept my interest up until the half way point, the story falls apart in the latter
the second to last episode really pulled me out of the whole thing and i lost interest after that but reluctantly finished the series to see where it ended and was disappointed
technically, this is very well made but the the structuring of the plot is uneven/inconsistent

What Dreams May Come 1998
visually strong but the plot/pacing of the film felt rushed and inconsistent
