A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place ★★★½

As the title and premise suggests, this is a horror/thriller that operates with very little dialogue and heavily relies on mood and tension in order to be effective. Thankfully, John Krasinki shows great promise as a director and is able to handle the proceedings competently. There are solid performances across the board and from the opening scene, the film has you hooked. However, the premise on which the film rests on becomes a little too basic in the end and, sadly, with contradictions seeping in it doesn't quite amount to the sum of it's parts. It's a serviceable thriller but I did expect more.
