The special effects shine in this one, so much that it doesn't have much else to offer and I'm extremely disappointed. Any time something is compared to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, my excitement is maxed out. But this doesn't have any sense of danger, helplessness, or fear while being in an environment that honestly had the potential to be better than Texas Chainsaw Massacre in those departments... that kind of opportunity is as rare as it gets. Metal jaw Surgeon…
This film is absolutely brilliant.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think Susan Tyrrell might take the championship for best 80s horror performance in this. The transformation of her character day by day was so well done, I'm still in awe laying in bed an hour after the movie ended. By the end of it, her behavior was like if you blended a cannibal from Wrong Turn with Jason Vorhees' mother and that's so fuckin cool and creepy.…
Not crazy about it. Definitely a fun time killer because the two characters have some amazing chemistry. The comedy was great but the horror just isn't there at all and I was hoping for a real cult spook. Even as a low budget film, I still feel like more could have been done. Caught myself pulling up my phone a couple times because the first half is a serious drag. Picks up later as the characters grow closer and it's passable but don't go in expecting anything new or unpredictable.
I checked out the original film earlier this month for the first time and had no idea this remake was coming out! Syfy is knocking it out of the park with this new direction of comic adaptations (Resident Alien is awesome) and reworking the horror classics, I'm happy to see them moving on from the really weird "so bad it's good" arc that Sharknado spawned. Keep it up, Syfy!
The shots were great and the kills looked spectacular. There's a…
Released one year after the supposed final chapter? Alright.
This movie sucks. And it was honestly a plot concept I was all about seeing. But the lack of development (somehow) makes this cast of characters the weakest up to this point and the horrible pacing doesn't help. Would have been totally okay if the kills were neat but they weren't. I just can't tell what this film was aiming for because it removes the soul from the franchise and it…
Big Walter White vibes watching this one. Made me think about how someone that seems so normal can be deeply disturbed, how you can pass a killer in public and not even know.
The ending is a massive flop alongside the scene structure. The film seems to think it's fooling you when you're given clear signs of what's going on extremely early.. but it wasn't one of those "I figured it out and no one else did" moments, anyone can…
