Martin Ralya’s review published on Letterboxd:
Fuuuuuck me but this is a fine slice of bleak psychological body horror, as expected from Brandon Cronenberg (or his dad, of course).
It takes one hell of a sexy premise -- an assassin who can possess people uses her puppets to commit perfect crimes, killing her target(s) and then themselves -- and dives deep into it, teasing out all the gruesome and disturbing implications of what that would be like, and what anyone capable of doing it would be like.
Andrea Riseborough (Tasya) and Christopher Abbott (Colin) are both fantastic. They each must act like their character, their character while "intermingled," and like each other, a complex, heady blend that requires synchronicity and serious acting chops.
Possessor is a grisly, disturbing mind-worm of a film, an unrelenting fever dream, and one of my favorite movies of 2020.
