ayo i like movies
There’s something about the way this movie was crafted so that shows the vastness of Herbert’s universe… but it’s done in a way that is eerie and (dare I say it) alienating. Herbert and Villeneuve’s space feels barren and almost terrifying in its enormity. The viewer feels their insignificance through it. It’s brilliantly done.
I really enjoyed this movie, though I felt the final climax (despite the attempt to build it up) was a bit lacking. Having read the book,…
-I’m a slut for movies with men who live solely for the memory of their dead wife/son
-when he said “are you entertained?” I thought of shark tale
-was the rent due or something? Cuz my buoy Joaquin Phoenix did NOT have to go as hard as he did
-Djimon’s character lived. That sparked joy
-THE FINAL SCORE TRACK ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? GO OFF HANS ZIMMER!!! (Even tho part of the earlier score was v reminiscent of pirates of the Caribbean)
Quite possibly the most beautiful movie I’ve ever seen. The music, cinematography and minimal dialogue are right up my alley, and the visual storytelling is brilliant.
Fern reminds me of a voice in the wilderness, of some kind of prophet (which is v Romantic of me). I love Frances McDormand with my whole heart.
Chloe Zhao is an ace! A new favorite movie to be sure.
