Took up an unplanned Chuck Norris triple feature tonight and while the first two (The President's Man and Hellbound) sucked, The Hitman saved the night. Surprisingly very dark and grim. Violence isn't held back as there's a good amount of bloodshed. Norris plays an antihero with a big, "Fuck you" attitude packing a short barreled shotgun-like pistol rocking the best hair cut. You don't want to cross this guy's path. Even his booty call wasn't safe. I was laughing to…

Since starting my year of Chuck Norris challenge, Hellbound has been one I've been very interested in. The legend taking on a horror film? And it's by Canon Group? How could it be disappointing? Sadly it's a letdown. There is a horror tinge but it's muddled down under a generic buddy cop comedy. Most of the run time is spent with Chuck and his partner running the streets of Israel investigating a very uninteresting case. For his 90's outputs, Hellbound is at least watchable and still miles ahead of his made for TV action soaps.

Hearing Iron Maiden's "Flash of the Blade" while seeing a flash of a blade was greatly satisfying.

Standard Argento fanfare to be found here. His incredible scores, beautiful lighting, and that climax was something else. Absolutely wild.

I always wrote this one off because it wasn't horror and I had zero interest in seeing a non-horror Carpenter flick. Luckily I broke down after finding a copy of this mega cheap and ended up loving every second of this goofy cheese fest! There are somehow still plenty of monsters in this kung fu piece possibly even some of Carpenter's best designed.

I do regret doubting the Carpenter, just proves furthermore to never doubt the master of horror.
