Kiki's Delivery Service

Kiki's Delivery Service ★★★★½

"We each need to find our own inspiration Kiki, sometimes it's not easy."

Perhaps the most sincere, magical and heart-warming Ghibli I've seen yet, Kiki's Delivery Service is as "feel good" as a feel good movie can get. It's basically a warm hug!

The journey of young Kiki adapting to life on her own is so incredibly uplifting -- there was hardly a time I didn't have a smile on my face. Through the ups and the downs, Kiki overcomes the challenges and obstacles thrown at her (like her first delivery, or when she lost her powers, and then this curious boy named Tombo!) and embraces life on her own and the people she meets along the way.
There wasn't a character I didn't like. Kiki is a favourite but Tombo was cute as well. There were no antagonists, which is always refreshing to see. Oh and Jiji! I love ghibili and their magical, talking creatures :)

Within this sweet, charming and very memorable film, there is a message of learning to believe in yourself.
Miyazaki has always impressed me with his themes because they give the film a a greater purpose. To tackle themes of hope and self belief through Kiki is really compelling and inspiring and in my opinion, really well done.

Overall, Kiki's Delivery Service is a cute, coming of age story that will absolutely melt your heart!
