whenever i watch a billy wilder film i never have much to say cause they're just perfect. all i'm gonna say is that our culture's obsession with piling onto and profiting off of stories of tragedy continues to be completely horrific and i don't really see a way out and that's terrifying.

wish kirk douglas worked with wilder more - he does his brand of charismatic asshole better than anyone else.

god. it's been a while since i've seen something so singular and uniquely wrenching. this deserves so much more than 500k views on youtube. one of those films where i viscerally related to basically every part of it, often to very uncomfortable degrees. it takes some of lifes most uncomfortable, painful, and uncertain moments and forces you to sit with them. but i was still totally entertained throughout? masterpiece.
