The Addiction ★★★½

Very nihilistic, even by Abel's standards but I think it's resolve in spirituality is what makes it really resonate with me in the end. Alot has been said about it being an allegory for drug addiction but I also think it's about losing innocence, your childlike ways and becoming a husk of what you once were.

Its certainly a film where the themes are applied to its tone, it's essentially a vast wasteland and it breaks my heart. Kinda crazy that Abel at this point was able to make something so grounded and moody, but it makes sense, when your forced look inwards the layer of artifice is removed and all you can see your true self inside. I just wanna give Abel a hug.
