mccook’s review published on Letterboxd:
Without a James Gunn’s script, Synder’s journey into zombie territory is more melodramatic and less surefooted than his fantastic Dawn of The Dead remake. Synder borrows from that film and heavily from other sources including Aliens, George Romero’s films and Return of The Living Dead.
There are some inspired moments though and the opening musical sequence is well put together. The supporting cast adds some charm, especially Matthias Schweighöfer as a German safecracker and Tig Notaro as a helicopter pilot.
