Monster Hunter

Monster Hunter

"Monster Hunter" is based on a video game, and it's about Lt. Artemis and her loyal soldiers who are transported to a new world, and they engage in a desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers.

As a gamer, I don't play the Monster Hunter games, but some of my friends do play these games, and if there's one video game movie that I'm looking forward to, then that's gotta be the 2021 version of "Mortal Kombat". I'm not excited to watch this movie not because I don't play the games, it's because it's another fucking Paul W.S. Anderson film with his wife, and all of his movies are horrendous except AVP and Event Horizon, which is his best film. Also, the trailer sucks ass. Buuuuuuuuut, I'm watching this for some reasons. And "Monster Hunter" gave me cancer and it's similar to the Resident Evil movies that he directed.

There are a couple of things that I liked in this movie. I actually like the CGI, the monsters looked very smooth, but some of the CG stuff looked very cheesy. Tony Jaa is easily the best part of this movie and his choreography skills are amazingly cool. And a couple of action sequences are... quite fun.

Mostly everything in this movie is Paul W.S. Anderson's shit and yes, this is a really bad movie. The editing is my biggest issue with this movie, and it's one of the worst editing I've ever seen, just like the Resident Evil movies. The plot in this movie is very boring, very questionable and it lacks interest, and I think it's an overused and simple plot because... you always see this type of plot in most action movies from the 2010s. The writing in this movie is lazy. There are a lot of tedious characters, some ridiculously awful decisions, some cliches, and terrible but cringe-worthy dialogue. Some of the action sequences are very incomprehensible and make you question "What the actual fuck is going on???". The performances are terrible. And the third act, what third act???

Overall, don't watch this movie if you're a fan of the Monster Hunter games, and ISTFG, don't tell me they're actually gonna make a sequel. "Monster Hunter", a bad movie with bad writing and bad storytelling, and it's one of the worst movies of 2020.
