  • Pet Sematary II

    Pet Sematary II

I think all fans would agree that Pet Sematary didn't need a sequel. The connection to the main story (aside from the location) is threadbare, so this could have just as easily been a standalone movie.

That said, it's a fun (if silly) film, and Clancy Brown steals the show with his performance. Disengage your brain, sit back and enjoy the ride.

  • Annabelle Comes Home

    Annabelle Comes Home

Considering how good Conjuring 1 & 2 are, the spin-offs all seem to suffer from a curse of mediocrity.

The first Annabelle movie was just dismal in every way. The sequel/prequel I thought was rather good. It had an interesting premise, a great location and was a pretty solid origin story. It also tied in with the first movie very well.

Annabelle Comes Home falls somewhere in the middle. It is not terrible - and worth a watch if you like…

  • Nymph

I will say I didn't have too many expectations from this - but in the end, this is a fun monster film. The overall story is good, and aside from a bit too much melodrama between the characters and a bit of questionable line delivery, it kept me entertained.

Some of the CGI didn't look great (in my opinion, if it wasn't lit so brightly, it would have come across a lot better), but it was serviceable - on the…

  • Growth

The cast did a pretty decent job given the material they were given, and while the overall story got stretched a bit thin for the runtime, this was a good little creature feature.

Some of the CGI effects are a bit basic, but overall they do a good job and great to see them also using some practical work especially for the blood and gore effects.

  • Pokémon Detective Pikachu

    Pokémon Detective Pikachu

First I want to state that I don't know anything about Pokémon (aside from a few characters, mostly because of memes and media references), never watched, read or played it.

Having said that - this is a pretty decent movie. It has amusing moments, some of the CGI is really well done, and even had me laughing on occasion.

It's not a deep movie by any stretch, but if you want to shut off your brain for 90 minutes and watch something light hearted, there are far worse movies you could pick.

  • The Boogens

    The Boogens

Slow to start, but has plenty of that 80's horror/monster movie charm, so you keep watching. A little bit by the numbers, but the good cast ensures an enjoyable watch for fans of monster movies.

  • The Meg

    The Meg

The Meg - while not a patch on the novel - is good popcorn entertainment. When I first heard Jason Statham was cast in the role of Jonas, I was convinced this would be terrible (not that I don't like JS, but he just didn't suit the role for me). However after watching, he did a good job.

The movie does not take itself seriously, and so the cast feel a bit more relaxed. Many scenes are remakes of the…
