“Hi, chief. Nice night… Nice boots. Nice boots.”
One of those movies that makes a million little choices and manages to make the perfect one almost every time. The aesthetic hasn’t aged. The effects don’t look cheap. The world has so many fun details, but isn’t bogged down by a heap of boring overwritten lore. Carpenter fills the movie with seemingly one dimensional stock characters and then uses the actors to give them life and humanity. It’s basically the definition of show don’t tell and it’s one of my all time favorite movies and I love it!
