As a Mexican-American who grew up with a father involved as a local DJ and equipment deal, I found this movie to be VERY personal.

While my family did not come from Monterrey, cumbia sonideras and rebajadas are still more or less the soundtrack of my adolescent youth and early teens as we struggled to day-to-day in the marketplaces and cities across California whilst getting adjusted in the country. I do not think my father is aware of how immediate…

TIL there was a Woodstock 94’ and that Moby has face tats

Also, fuck the promoters/organizable who were interviewed that are still excusing or undermining all of the sexual assaults and violence after what was literally a shit show.

We paid for the stream to support Sono in the west, since no theaters nearby were playing the film.

Honest take: Underwhelmed- but ain't even mad. Post-nuclear / neocolonial critical samurai westerns is still a relatively unpopulated genre, the set pieces are still savage and hearing Cage yell absurdities in any context will never not be entertaining. It felt like if a PS2 game's screenplay was adapted into a film first.

Not his best, not his worst.
Tldr; I'm biased and still stanning.

I don't know how a film this influential can go absolutely uncredited by so many filmmakers.

I worked at a night club full-time, 5 days a week for 3 years. They never reduced their volume levels, overcompensating the size of the venue with the attraction the owners felt like they were bringing.

For over 2 years of my time there, I had worked irresponsibly by choosing not to wear earplugs. The flawed logic for…

The critics that have issues with this work have never slept in a space they couldn't control, watched any Kurosawa films other than his historical dramas, hate paintings, disregard human struggle, think the effects of war stop when it ends, want perfect communities, get flustered when following multiple storylines, and know absolutely nothing about how your imagination can literally be the only thing to try and get you through hard times.
