Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★½

Was very anxious to rewatch this. I think it's still full of a lot of fantastic stuff, but it doesn't quite fully click into place for me. I think the middle-section with Rick working drags (it's really like we are watching an episode of this show for 20 minutes, a show that isn't very good); the whole time, I'd rather be watching Pitt drive around L.A. honestly. Just generally, though, the Pitt stuff rules.

[The Playboy Mansion sequence is also one of the most artificial things Tarantino has ever shot. The parties in Austin Powers feel more real and lively than this. It's like they did a quick run-through of what a 60s dance should look like 5 minutes before cameras rolled (and Polanski just seems insanely miscast, like he's a child).]
