A pulpy crime film built entirely on the lucidity of memories, but at the same time, the futility of ‘chasing shadows.’ Incredible.

Great story, but nearly every choice in made in camera work and editing distracted me quite a bit. I realize this is Paul Greengrass’ touch, but for such a slow film, much more restraint would benefit News of the World in every way. Allowing those picturesque and contemplative moments (that end up being cut too short, lit too dark or shot too shaky) to shine. Enjoyed everything else!

The weird transphobic comment kinda fucked up any meaningful commentary on the ethics of street photography that might have come out of this.
