A visceral assault on the senses and sensibility.
Despite the grainy black and white footage, this is genuinely one of the most horrifying and disturbing psychological horror movies I’ve seen in a long while.
And the fact that this came out in 1926 is even more mind boggling to me! The ushers were probably cleaning piss and shit stains off the chairs every time the movie was over.
