• Tenet

Nolan asks us to wonder... what if Inception, but with time?

The inverse of this movie is one where the protagonist doesn’t simply reiterate “I am the protagonist” - we end up knowing more about Bill and Melinda.

Which, btw- what an incredibly badass motive for an antagonist. Really cool, extremely realistic to expect a billionaire narcissist to attempt such a thing.

Worth a watch for some amazing practical action scenes reminiscent of some long forgotten 90s tradition, a gorgeous score that gives this film some much needed emotional texture, and time crimes!!

    Hard Boiled

    farce as action film. incredible

    Banana Fish

i cant begin to explain the fanfic energy this anime has

seeing as the comic was made in the 80s, and was a monumental influence on the BL genre, it all makes sense, but now in the year of 2018, we get a whole ass 24-episode anime about dudes rockin and lovin their homies

the angst levels of this show are off the charts, i wouldn't want it any other way

  • Given

This show has so much potential- amazing characters, kindness and love, a story about finding your self confidence. but the pacing was awful. Whole episodes of nothing would go by.  Ends just as it’s gaining steam and finding itself, not to mention focusing on Uenoyama.

Watching this made me realize how much I don’t like 11 or 12 episode animes, it always feels like it takes at least ten episodes for the show to find its groove. Which is exactly what 11 felt like in given.

Despite that, I recommend the show. It’s tenderness is deeply charming

    Zack Snyder's Justice League

The last shot of the movie represents everything that came before, meaningless

The reviews of this show are unhinged holy cow

  • Enemy

The chad vs virgin meme the movie

The writing in this is a mess, just so uninteresting, movie is piss colored and ugly. Made me angry from the first scene but I believe in judging things as a whole and I struggled many times to not turn it off

  • The Double Life of Véronique

    The Double Life of Véronique

“I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked. One fig was a husband and a happy home and children, and another fig was a famous poet and another fig was a brilliant professor, and another fig was Ee Gee, the amazing editor, and another fig was Europe and Africa and South America, and another fig…

  • Housekeeping

    A masterpiece

I read Marilynn Robinson's Housekeeping in college - easily almost 10-ish years ago now (lol) and though I don't remember specifics, I remember the feelings it evoked. Feelings of slippery time and the mists of family history.

On an adaptation level, I found the story genius. Rather than try to compete with the language of the novel, Forsyth gives us a very distanced, observant view of the story of the novel. In taking us out of the story,…

    Scare Me

Written by someone who is terminally online... really interesting concept but very much felt more suited to be either a play or an audio story. As a film it’s terribly boring.

  • After Hours

    After Hours

Corporatized life leads to a deep alienation that keeps us from ever meaningfully engaging with each other. Downtown, things are different. People know each other, trust each other. Our lead wants that trust, what he wants when he wants it, without building or crafting anything.

We know he’s had a hard night. But along the way he never asks the person who is helping him in some way if they’ve had a good night or one similar to him. In the end he will simply end up where he started. He’s never actually going to be home again.
