I don't get it.
Two stars because there were two Nicholas Brothers.
It’s genuinely hilarious to watch a musical like this, because musicals like this give all movie musicals a bad name. This is the type of movie that makes people think musicals feature characters bursting into song for no reason. Here, the shoe fits. My good friend Scott Renshaw likes to say, from time to time, that multiple opposing things can be true all at the same time. Here are three such opposing things.
First, the allegations regarding Ansel Elgort in the last couple years are, putting it lightly, very gross. Second, Ansel Elgort is a fairly vacuous, charisma-free actor. Third, West Side Story, in which Elgort stars as one half of a tragically doomed romance, is my favorite film of the year.
