The Pursuit of Happyness

The Pursuit of Happyness

The story of a man desperately trying to be happy. Life is tough for him. He and his son have to fend for themselves. He struggles with paying taxes. The only way he can get money is by selling these X-Ray thingies (forgot what they were called lol). The one job he does have is an internship so he doesn’t even get money from it. He has to fight hard to make sure he and his son get through all their hardships. You have to fight for happiness. It doesn’t always just come to you. Some people are not as lucky as others but it you really fight for it, maybe you can find it. We give the right to have the pursuit of happiness. Not meaning that happiness is guaranteed but that we have the right to find it. Will Smith gives easily that best performance I’ve seen from him hands down as a man who really just wants to make life easy for him and his son. He does whatever it takes to achieve that. The movie is about his journey. The end destination is pretty predictable but the film really is about the journey. This man is able to make something out of nothing. It’s kind of a rags to riches tale I guess you can say. Nothing comes easily and happiness certainly doesn’t but you got to fight for it. And it might not even come even as hard as you try but you just got to keep on going. This film is very inspirational ,albeit a bit cheesy at times. Its just simply amazing to watch someone fighting as hard as they can to achieve their goals. As simple as that is, it can craft a really powerful narrative. With the help of Will Smith’s everlasting charm, the main character is just someone you can really care for and someone you want to see succeed. You want him in his son, who is surprisingly really well played by Jaden Smith, to find a way to have a happy life. The challenges they gave are never ending and involve a lot of running (like seriously the amount of times Will Smith is running in this film is kind of crazy). At every corner there is something that gets in the way even when things seems to be going smoothly. But that’s just life. There will always be challenges that get in the way of everything. And you either conquer them or you don’t. There is just something so warm about this film even if there are some really sad moments. It shows that there is always hope at every corner. And well as simple at this is, it’s really uplifting. You just gotta fight for what you want even if takes years. Will Smith maybe should’ve won an Oscar for this??
