What’s Your Favorite Performance of the 21st Century?
-
-
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 2002
Sean Astin as Samwise Ganghi: Chosen By Mudkip Kombucha
“He’s the perfect friend and everything he says is believable and not corny or anything like that. You really believe he’d do anything to get Frodo to Mt. Doom. I don’t think anyone could’ve pulled that off” -

Daniel Day Lewis as Daniel Plainveiw: Chosen By Groovy Movies
-
La Vie en Rose 2007
Marion Cotillard as Edith Piaf: Chosen By Sam Meltzer🏳️🌈
“She BECAME Edith Piaf. Her pasión, anger, sadness, happiness POP through the screen at all times. She had to take singing lessons just to MOVE HER MOUTH THE WAY EDITH PIAF DID WHILE SHE SANG (Marion didn’t even sing but it SOOOO looked like it). Her performance is so brilliant an convincing I UGHHH YES” -
The Social Network 2010
Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin: Chosen By remolano
“This pick sort of acts as an honorary selection representative of all the work he’s done so far and how underrated he is (The Amazing Spider-Man duology, Silence, Hacksaw Ridge) but it’s specific to his epic outing specifically in TSN as well. He is just a powerhouse - even the intense scenes look effortless and like many I believe he should’ve at least gotten a nomination for Best Supporting Actor” -

“Literally the greatest performance of all time imo nothing even gets to that level. He is deliberate with every word, improvises but also knows how to act from the script, he turned the character from a well written one into one that will be immortalized in film, and he got punched in the face FOR REAL. Like cmon that deserved an Oscar best performance everrrrr” -

Nightcrawler 2014
Jake Gyllenhaal as Lou Bloom: Chosen By Noa
“think Gyllenhaal was perfect for the role and what he was able to do with Lou is truly on a next level. He managed to come of as quite nice and weird yet he was immensely intimidating and legitimately frightening. Gyllenhaal was in command of every scene, all the other characters felt trapped when they shared the screen with him. He made the characters obsessions and weird quirks come of way too naturally and Lou's transformation felt seamless. My words can never really do this preformance justice, you all need to watch Nightcrawler, but I think my highest praise would be that I actually forgot that he was acting, hell I almost even forgot he was human, that's how captivating and powerful this preformance is” -
Joker 2019
Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/The Joker Chosen By Doublej2005
“Whatever people have said about the film, you can't deny just how fantastic Joaquin really is. I do prefer Heath, but he's already taken, so it's Joaquin for me” -

Macbeth 2015
Micheal Fasbender as Macbeth: Chosen By Micheal Cox
“It's hard to describe what makes it so brilliant. It's everything that Fassbender excels at: fury, intensity, nuance and completely commiting himself to the character. His soliloquy before deciding to kill Duncan was Shakespearean perfection and his "Full of scorpions is my mind" is bone-chilling” -
Carol 2015
Cate Blanchett as Carol Aird: Chosen By Mister Gaga

Frank 2014
Micheal Fassbender as Frank: Chosen By John John
“ a severely underrated performance in a severely underrated film. Not sure how he hides his face the entire film yet somehow makes this character distinguished and distinct through his voice, mannerisms, and timing. It's a perfect performance. Fassbender in 'Shame' is probably a close #2.” -
The Wolf of Wall Street 2013
Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort: Chosen By Movieman97
“He's the engine that drives the nearly three-hour feature of sex, drugs, money, and full-on corrupt debauchery, and it's his endless charm, energy, and passion thrown into the role that makes every scene of the film compelling from start to finish” -

“I think she really shines during her auditions. She showcases just how much of a talented actress she can be when she's doing the "on the phone audition" but then completely switches when Mia phones it in for the rest of the crappy auditions when she's almost given up. Plus the pure emotion she has on her face throughout the entire film is transfixing. A very well deserved Oscar!” -

Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander: Chosen By Mr J T Flanagan
“she really put her absolutely all into the character and it really shows on screen, she's completely unrecognisable!”
