This is so good. Pure escapist fun that Spielberg hasn’t delivered in a long time, and he’s back to his roots. It’s really not a masterpiece by any means, but it’s certainly a technical one, and I just had a stupid grin on my face throughout its 140 minutes runtime. This is why we go to the movies, guys. To escape, with a bit of a reminder that there’s still reality we need to deal with. Spielberg does that aspect well, but he also drops references like a machine gun. So filled with appearances, references, and just pure spectacle. Don’t go in expecting Jaws or Jurassic Park or Minority Report.
