Nate Richard’s review published on Letterboxd:
I didn't expect to love this as much as I did. Don't get me wrong, I loved the first Deadpool and I was super excited for the sequel. But the truth is, most superhero sequels can struggle to reach the heights of the first movie. That's not the case with Deadpool 2. It's the funniest, most entertaining, and energetic films I've seen in awhile. This isn't the best movie of the year, it isn't even the best superhero movie of the year, but it's probably the most fun. Ryan Reynolds once again kills it as Deadpool 2, but the newcomers are also rock solid. Zazie Beetz is perfectly cast as Domino and Josh Brolin really nails it as Cable. The humor comes flying at you fast, a lot of things hit hard while there are some that miss the mark, but the end credits scene is probably the hardest I've laughed in a theater in a real long time. David Leitch brings his some of his unique style of action to the film, while it's not as as stylistic as his work in Atomic Blonde, I think that was for the best with this movie. I do have a few problems with the overall story, but I don't want to spoil anything. Overall, Deadpool 2 is an absolute blast and it's one of the best times I had in the theater this year. If you loved the first Deadpool like I did or are just looking for a fun summer blockbuster, this is one you don't want to miss.
