“I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.”
I had high expectations going into 2001: A Space Odyssey, and man did this live up to the expectations. It’s definitely slow, and I think that makes people mentally check out or turn it off all together. That’s a big mistake, because this movie as so much to offer.
When you get past the crawling pace, this story is incredible. It simply blows my mind. Especially when you look up theory videos and meanings, the themes and ideas are insane. I respect the hell out of what the movie is attempting to tell about life, humanity, evolution, and more. I love deep, ambitious, thought provoking stories, and this is the King of them all so far. Not to mention how absolutely timeless this is. It came out over 50 years ago and still holds up completely to this day, and will for another century. A true masterpiece.
