Shadow of a Doubt

Shadow of a Doubt ★★★★½

I can see why Hitchcock considered this his favorite US film.

This classic film-noir has an absolute delight of a screenplay. Rich black and white cinematography and of course our two great Charlie’s. One signifying pureness you would expect from the suburbs and the other the evil from this cold world.

Joseph Cotton plays a great charismatic villain, up there with Norman Bates as Hitchcock’s best. And of course Hitchcock films usually have a great heroine and the lovely Teresa Wright is no exception.
