• Patti Cake$

    Patti Cake$

Peanut butter to the wonder bread,
    Jam to the smuckers.
    Like impotent dads
    We're some bad mother f....s!

  • Whose Streets?

    Whose Streets?

It is our duty to fight for our freedom.
It is our duty to win.
We must love and support one another.
We have nothing to lose but our chains.

  • The Circle

    The Circle

They gave us a cautionary tale.
I came home and logged this film on Letterboxd anyway.
Now they know where I've been.
    I guess I'll never learn.

  • La La Land

    La La Land

Even better on the second viewing!

Not only did I get an audience that didn't talk through the whole thing, but I noticed tons of artistic flourishes the second time around!

  • La La Land

    La La Land

I loved this but need to see it again in a few weeks when the theaters are less crowded. I can't even complain about "those damn kids" because it was a bunch of old folks who were talking through this one!

  • An Affair to Remember

    An Affair to Remember

If you've got racism in the middle of your song about conscience, it's probably a hint that your concept of romance is flawed too.

  • The BFG

    The BFG

Easily the least entertaining movie I've seen this year.

  • Money Monster

    Money Monster

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

It starts out with a decent understanding that the whole system is rigged, only to fall into the typical "single villain" narrative in the last third. In that sense, it's like watching a social consciousness raising in reverse. So I guess I'd have to give it five capitalist stars, but only one and a half socialist stars.

  • The Jungle Book

    The Jungle Book

Only you can prevent jungle fires.

  • Battle for the Planet of the Apes

Finally sat down and watched the whole pentalogy(!)

I feel like they need a sixth though, showing how the humans lost their ability to speak and descended fully into being seen as "animals". Then we'd be able to circle back to Charlton Heston in a continuous loop!

  • For Your Consideration

    For Your Consideration

Watching this again as Awards season starts to heat up.

  • Stonewall

This is the first time that a gay movie has made me want to crawl back INTO the closet.
