The absolute dumbest and stupidest Halloween film which is impressive considering sequels included Busta Rhymes Kung Fu kicking Michael. Barely a movie, instead an entire first act in which every scene exists only to explain the previous scene.. which explained the previous.. going so far to dip back into the lore of the original. Monstrously ugly and mean-spirited, the constant befuddlement generating incidental moments of surrealism. The door/gun kill is one of the funniest Michael gags. Social cues reduced to slogans (“Evil dies tonight!”). Unequivocally insipid but still better than the 2018 one.
Major Fleabag energy, of course I liked. Even when it approaches triteness, it’s injected with so much flair and vitality. Reinsve is an alluring presence but Anders Danielsen Lie (with this and Bergman Island, stealth 2021 MVP) is an equally compelling foil. That cancer subplot… triggering
