    Really quite wholesome really

  • The Doors: Live at the Bowl '68

The Doors: Live at the Bowl '68

Did I really like this cos it’s The Doors with a class performance at the peak of their powers or did I just really like the fact there was a guy shouting the lyrics occasionally from the back of the cinema to which some bloke responded “yeah we all know the words mate”.

  • Halloween II

    Halloween II

If I bumped into Dr Loomis in a dark alleyway I’m bolting.

  • Saint Maud

    Saint Maud

Every time I thought it wasn’t gonna happen between me and Saint Maud, it kept pulling me back in with some horrendous stuff. By the end I was sick with dread. That final act was something to behold

    [REC]

Fair to say I shit bricks at almost all of this. But then had a good laugh at the terrible music in the end credits which made everything safer.

  • Unstoppable

    Unstoppable

Give me one of these over the constantly regurgitated and formulaic Marvel and DC nonsense we see every week.

  • Candyman

    Candyman

By no means a bad film at all but the OG version just got so much under my skin more and this one barely scratched the surface. Does have a brutal kill or two and some lovely body horror but just got bogged down in its politics whereas the 1992 one gets the right balance for me. Basically, tries to do loads of things and in the end achieves nothing.

  • Hedgehog in the Fog

    Hedgehog in the Fog

Gotta be some of the most unusual but stunning pieces of animation I’ve ever seen. Only the Soviets.

    ★★★★★

Fair to say this film lives in my head rent free.

  • Pulse

    Pulse

Drenched in so much eerie and unnerving atmosphere, had me petrified at almost every moment, a dark and depressing apocalyptic feel, it’s chilling use of the early days of the internet. With all this combined, you can imagine my great surprise when it ended on an unbelievably joyful and cheesy end credits song. Wasn’t expecting that.

Wonderwall aside, a really good film.
