Noel Penaflor’s review published on Letterboxd:
Reese Witherspoon walks around and goes buck...wild.
One of those introspective movies with voice over and fractured flashbacks as Cheryl Strayed takes a long hike because she's got trauma to deal with and can't do it with merely a dressing up montage and a well placed pop song.
The movie takes its time but is never boring. One of Witherspoon's best performances complete with a Best Supporting backpack. There are some dead spots and visual repetitiveness but that's easily forgiven.
See it while walking on a trail.
Does not work vicariously as therapy.
