McCabe & Mrs. Miller ★★½

One hand: a survey of the Old West as it actually was: racist, crass, uncomfortable, violent and violently misogynistic, although the characters affected by it most aren't given much insight so I won't call it an excellent survey, I think I fell on the side of liking the incessant Leonard Cohen song

Other hand: Monotonous with too much focus on McCabe and the random (and often bigoted) thoughts of random townsmen, the potential cultural analysis ends up being superficial, aspects of McCabe and Mrs. Miller's dynamic could have been interesting but is presented too listlessly for the very end to really hit, the climax was weirdly boring to me?

I might just be a 3 Women type
