Very cool concept and a haunting, powerful performance by Walken. Loved the melancholy vibe, Canadian setting, meandering nature of the story and the score. Didn't realise this was a Cronenberg joint, atypical and a little low key compared to the surrounding efforts (Videodrome - The Fly). Still, super compelling and well worth a watch.

    Enjoyed Herbert Lom!

An mostly easy/fun/comforting watch, although I'd forgot how hard the end hits. Eastwood is so good, and must put in the toughest performance ever committed to celluloid by a 78 year old. The rest of the actors have a charm/realism. Not sure that some of the dialogue was necessary, but it appears to fit the setting/characters.

Makes me want to be proficient at DIY.

Harder, colder and blonder Martins Campbell's Bond reboot takes the franchise along a far more modern, believable and interesting path than the Brosnan years. While I seem to remember thinking the same thing about Goldeneye, Famke Janssen's thighs may have clouded my youthful judgment.

There is however, no doubt that Casino Royal is a beast of an action movie. Fast paced and totally gripping with a revelatory performance from the usually dull Daniel Craig who gives England a 007 it…
