“I like Kools. Minty flavor.”
Recording everything I watch starting May 2021.
I stand by absolutely none of my reviews.
“Oh my god, the dog died!”
“He was only just alive!”
Oh no. Oooh no.
This was as bad as anything I’ve watched in a long time. The dialogue is often jaw-droppingly contrived in a direct, almost aggressive refutation of “show, don’t tell.” There are four distinct endings - none of them satisfying. Other little things, like its on-the-nose title, the idea that an American cop vacationing in a foreign country has jurisdiction, or the rusty knife effect genuinely make me wonder…
Joan Chandler choke me to death and hide my body in a chest.
This was just tremendous. The one shot gimmick is cute if inconsequential, but there are some truly electric moments. When the housemaid started cleaning up after dinner I could feel the tension in the back of my neck.
Jimmy Stewart is outstanding, even if I found his big monologue a little hollow. John Dall is also fantastic and I have a half-serious suspicion that Brandon was an inspiration for Always Sunny’s Dennis Reynolds.
