A happily married couple who loves movies.
Casting: perfect. Sound design: perfect. Music: perfect. Line deliveries: perfect. Blocking: perfect. Everything else possible: perfect. Something fun to do: check out the IMDb trivia page. You will admire Leslie Ann Warren’s performance all the more, and a fourth filmed-but-cut ending is cuh-razy dark. Flawless movie, every piece of it.
As noted previous review, Page rented for us a private screening of this film as an early anniversary gift (official day is tomorrow). It was extraordinary. (And also SUPER safe. Page is the best wife ever. Tomorrow is our anniversary, and she arranged for us today to see our own private screening at AMC ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’. We “pre-gamed” at home now with ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’. The expression applies: they don’t make them like they used to. The verbal and physical comedy are of the highest order, as are the action and very surprising, earned emotional moments. Everything is also given room to breathe, and everyone’s awesome in this. No easy route is ever taken in the dialogue, action, and storytelling, and it never steps wrong.
A high bar by which to compare future comedies we see, and despite the hilarious shenanigans in this, there’s something refreshingly laid back about it that is difficult to voice. Inventive and fun and hysterically funny throughout.
