Tense, measured fun with some very likable characters, especially female characters.
The tricycle wheel spinning way too fast and Tim Curry’s partially obscured face through the flapping laundry were the scariest part of this movie - that early scene freaked me out. Had to go read the plot on Wikipedia to see if it would be a safe watch and come back to the movie the next night. And I’m glad I did because the rest of the movie was barely scary and very warm-hearted. I liked that this was about something and I liked how creepy Tom Curry’s Pennywise was. Some of the emotional beats made more sense than others, but overall this was pretty good!

Basically, this. After I watched this movie I read so many reviews that, while favorable, were quick to put the characters in boxes — which (in addition to being the incorrect boxes, in my bisexual opinion AHEM) really missed all the points of the movie that I so connected with.
Our two main characters, Todd & Rory, don’t fully know themselves, or what they want, or maybe they changed their minds. This compulsive, garrulous, daydreaming story is about fluidity, deciding for yourself…
