i am glad that starship troopers came out in 1997 because if it did release after 2001, it definitely would not have passed.
starship troopers is one hell of an exercise in patriotism, fascism, and surprisingly provides a cohesive layered argument for the impracticality of war. it's hell, it's gruesome, but to its brilliance, it is unashamed of poking fun at itself to highlight the absurdity of its universe.
love & pop brings tiqqun's "theory of the young-girl" to shame, despite it being released in 1998, a year before tiqqun's essay was published in france. it too being a window into capitalism and its constituents, love & pop presents all the points in tiqqun's shoddy essay and more.
