Don't look away.
"Rape is not a crime against a woman, it is a crime against her male guardian."
The Last Duel loses some of its shock value on the second go, but it remains a compelling and throughly well acted examination of male trivialization of rape and the vilification women are subjected to when they challenge this culture.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This kind of show is why sci-fi gets a bad rap. It’s derivative, visually uninteresting, and the red herring lesbian trope is boarderline disgusting. Women deserve better science fiction characters, and ones whose backstory doesn’t always invovle rape. Please excuse me while I go and throw up.
