Starred Up

Starred Up ★★★★½

Often feels like Short Term 12 set in prison, especially in term of its aim for realism and verisimilitude. This is quite better, because it doesn't feels the need for a few schematic plot points to unnecessary connect the dots. Thick atmosphere, effectively sparse direction, rich in raw emotions, with two great central performances from Jack O'Connell and Ben Mendelsohn.

I feel quite dumb though in thinking through the whole movie that "huh, Orlando Bloom improves quite a lot" when it really was Rupert Friend. Just so alike.
