people call this peter weir’s fitzcarraldo, and they’re pretty much right about it but i find this to be more of a science vs religion sorta thing and it is interesting to watch. harrison ford does a great job portraying a man that has gone mad due to his vision of making a utopia in the jungle, sorta like fitzcarraldo wanting to get a boat over a hill and because of this they both are very similar but unlike fitzcarraldo, the mosquito coast is a lot more darker. i’m starting to enjoy a lot of films that take place in the jungle especially ones that are dark, I would recommend this to anyone who liked fitzcarraldo and aguirre to check this out!
