    As a debut, His House is outstanding. It's heavy, thought-provoking, and evocative of empathy for a marginalised community that desperately needs better representation in media.

    The film certainly gets better as it goes along, sometimes a little too assured of how it wants you to feel - but without actually putting in the work.

    Regardless, I recommend this film for its unique portrayal of a real lived experience that we do not see enough of, as well as for the fantastic performances that bring those horrors to our screen.
