WHAAAT?! WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO WATCH THIS?! Maybe because I've never really enjoyed anything by Abel Ferrara until now. Ms. 45 100 fucking percent lives up to the hype and more. It drips with style and energy. Everything is set up viciously, swiftly, and without drawing its unpleasant catalyst(s) out like other films in this troubled sub-genre. Thana's transformation to Ms. 45 is so fast, yet it makes total sense. I cannot stress how much I loved Zoë Lund in this role. She has so much power and presence without saying a word. She is as cool and slick as the film itself, and she is human and not at all indestructible making her stalk and kill scenes quite stressful to watch. Ferrara paints such a vivid world around Lund filled with absurd, pretentious scumbags, angry monologues about strangling cats, conversations made of pure faff, and a strange, offbeat humour that seeps into the cracks. The film's final slow-motion showdown and the post-showdown payoff had me practically applauding the screen. I want to watch this in a double bill with Revenge.
