Watching movies that I like
Woman of Rumor by Kenji Mizoguchi is an honest film portraying about brothel or host club in that era which is still related to this day. This film critiquing exploitation in the working-class and some of men ego, also discourse principle of "customer is king". Shots in black and white and camera angle feel like a theatrical drama which is one of my favorite styles.
The Day After by Hong Sang-Soo is a tense and realistic black and white film about a love affair between a man who has a wife and his worker. Hong Sang-Soo gives a topic about ego in a lot of men (not all of them btw) to satisfying themself and journey to finding purpose and meaning in life. The cinematography is clean, fits with the mood in this film.
For now, this is the best Hong Sang-soo film for me
36 by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit is full of exploration about life and memory especially love and regret from the perspectives of Sai. Slow cinema type of storytelling combining with non-linear storyline succeeds to maximized by Nawapol to make this film really special like watching Hong Sang-Soo or Lav Diaz film.
Enter the Void by Gaspar Noe is depressing, dark, and feels really erotic at the same time. Gaspar gives us a story and topic about the struggle of the poverty class, poverty class exploitation in society, escapism, and claustrophobia from the perspective of the main character, Oscar. The cinematography and art are really BEAUTIFUL AND MESMERIZING, it is so eye-catching for me. The camera angle in this film is really experimental with a lot of third-person shots and drone shot to show the story.
