    SHAME
    /SHām/
    noun

    1. “a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior. 2. Shame is a painful feeling that's a mix of regret, self-hate, and dishonor.”

Sometimes one doesn’t understand how they can be so unhappy, feel so empty, feel so unfulfilled when they seem to have it all. Shame is a strong emotion. An emotion that can sometimes make you want to peel away at your skin. This film explored sex addiction,…

From the moment this started, I knew this was going to be something special. The way this film started off so incredibly loud and rumbustious, almost deafening and ended in absolute silence was just genius.

The disbelief as Ruben's feels his hearing slowly getting away from him broke my heart. You can see his mind running through a million thoughts of no there’s no way I’m loosing my hearing. Maybe water is in there, maybe my ears just need to…

Really interesting that this went so under the radar considering it’s heavy relevance. But then again, things like this will always be prevalent with the way society is set up.

At this point, recording a killing basically makes no difference. You have a tape of a human’s life being taken away by cops and there’s hardly ever any justice. At this point, some cops really don’t give a shit. They’re like “you got me on tape? So what? Ain’t no…

I’ve never felt this anxious in a film before. Tension was built in scenes without having to make it feel scary or creepy. Anton’s character was just that unnerving that anytime he was on screen you felt immense tension. I’ve literally never feared a character this much. He’s the type of character where, when you’re with him, you feel unstoppable. You shouldn’t be afraid, because everyone should be afraid of the guy you’re with, and that’s securing enough. Javier Bardem completely annihilated this role!!

A film that will stick with me for a long time. So often we ask ourselves “what is my purpose?” And it’s a question that digs at our skins on a daily basis, and it dug even deeper for me because I just was asking myself this question yet again right before I watched this. Not having the answer to that question sucks so much. It sometimes feel like you’ll leave this life without having served “your purpose”. Sometimes I…

This is not your typical revenge film. In fact, I sometimes did not view it as a revenge film. I saw it as a film trying to reshape perspectives. Cassie’s intention was never to physically harm her targets, but to instil fear in them that could potentially reshape their actions. Placing fear in these men where respect should have been. She induces fear without being loudly villainous. Turning the tables right when they think they are…
