It’s a tragedy that we lost not only one of the most incredible actors in recent times, but one of the most incredible human beings. Chadwick’s death took many of us by surprise, but he left a remarkable performance behind. As his final performance, Chadwick was a powerhouse, making sure that he is remembered for the star he is.
This film had great performances across the board, though Viola stole the show for me. Her depiction of Ma Rainey no nonsense, bad ass firecracker blues singer was one I won’t soon forget. I felt like they were living and breathing these characters not reading from a script. This wasn’t a typical bio drama which worked and didn’t work for me, but overall I think it’s a great film worth checking out.
